The Chugachmiut Heritage Archive serves the tribal communities of the Chugach Region by documenting and uplifting Sugpiaq and Eyak voices in the Chugach historical record. We strive to responsibly preserve and promote Elders’ language, stories, and knowledge so that they are available to future generations.
This digital archive is an integral component of our mission to make Chugach history accessible to community members and educators. Visitors to the site may explore digital heritage items that are publicly available. Authenticated users may enter their log-in credentials to explore additional items with protected access.
To browse our collections, we encourage you to click on the “Browse Collections” or “Browse Digital Heritage” tabs to search the archive’s collection by topic, community, person, record type, and other criteria.
The Chugachmiut Heritage Archive routinely loans out Heritage Kits to educators, museums, schools, tribes, and organizations throughout the Chugach region. If you are interested in connecting with someone to talk more about the archive, checking out a Heritage Kit, or have further questions, please reach out to our Archivist at firstname.lastname@example.org
Visitors to the site should note that some of the materials on this site may be subject to copyright or other intellectual property restrictions. United States copyright law (Title 17, United States Code) addresses the partial or full reproduction of copyrighted material. In certain cases, archives and libraries are permitted to share a reproduction of copyrighted material. One of the conditions for this reproduction is that the material may not be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." Users should be careful not to use any materials in excess of "fair use."
The Chugachmiut Heritage Archive reproduces some materials with the intent to serve educators, researchers, students and community members in a non-commerical capacity. Chugachmiut reserves the right to refuse a request that, in its judgement, violates U.S. copyright law.
